The important part: Information about your tabs is never transmitted or disclosed to either the OneTab developers or any other party, with just two exceptions. Both happen only at your explicit request.
If you click our 'share as a web page' button, the tabs you select are uploaded so that they can be shared with others.
And if you turn on our optional Backup & Sync service, your saved tabs are synced between your browsers via our servers, always in encrypted form: they are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded, and they are only ever decrypted back into readable tabs on your own devices. Our servers cannot read your tabs — without your encryption key they are just scrambled data — so your synced tabs stay every bit as private as your unsynced ones.
The remainder of this privacy policy includes the usual web-site privacy language that covers us more broadly to comply with privacy law. E.g. we need to disclose that we use technology such as Google Analytics to keep track of how busy our Site is. We take your privacy very seriously.
This policy covers the one-tab.com website and the OneTab software (together, the "Site").
Apart from technical information that reaches us automatically when the Site is used (for example, IP addresses) and information our service providers pass to us (for example, payment and dispute details from Stripe), we will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us, such as by registering an account with us to sync their information across multiple computers. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users' means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.
Our Site uses cookies. You can set your browser to refuse them, but some parts of the Site may not work properly. We use cookies for purposes such as keeping you signed in to your billing account and measuring how busy the Site is; our payment provider Stripe may also set cookies during checkout.
Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. When you buy a license we keep the billing details you provide, such as your email address and billing country, together with our records of the purchase, which we keep as part of our business records — and in any case for at least as long as tax law requires. Technical information such as your IP address may be used to help confirm your billing country, as VAT rules require, and to help keep the Site and our licensing system secure. If you enter a VAT number, it is checked with the European Commission's VIES validation service.
We use the information we collect to run and improve the service, respond to your questions and support requests, maintain our records of purchases and licenses, protect against fraud, understand how the Site is used overall, and send the emails described below.
If you have an account or license, we send emails needed to provide the service, such as sign-in codes, license keys, and receipts. When you buy a license we may also email you occasional updates about OneTab, unless you decline at checkout; every such email includes an unsubscribe link.
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, transaction information and data stored on our Site. Synced tabs are stored only in encrypted form and are deleted after your license ends. We keep personal information for as long as it is relevant to the purposes described in this policy: for example, account information is kept while you have an account, and our records of purchases and licenses are kept as long-term business records — they let us verify licenses long after purchase, answer questions about past purchases, protect against fraud, and establish or defend legal claims, as well as satisfying tax law. When personal information is no longer relevant to any of these purposes, we delete or anonymize it.
We do not sell, trade, or rent Users' personal identification information to others. If OneTab Ltd is ever sold, merged, or reorganized, customer records may be transferred to the new owner as part of that transaction, and this policy will continue to apply to them. We use third party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site, such as Stripe for payment processing, an external email delivery service for sending the emails described above, and Google Analytics. These providers process your information only as needed to provide their services to us. Some of our service providers process information outside the UK and EU; where they do, safeguards required by data protection law are in place.
Our Site contains links to other websites, including in tab lists that users share. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites, which have their own policies.
You can ask us at any time for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, along with your other rights under data protection law. Just contact us via our feedback page and we will take care of it. Some information we need to keep — for example, our records of purchases and licenses, which we retain as described above for tax, payment-dispute, fraud-protection and legal reasons — but we will delete the personal information we no longer need and tell you what we have done. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to raise a concern with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office), though we would appreciate the chance to sort things out first.
We may update this policy from time to time; the latest version will always be on this page. By continuing to use the Site after changes are posted, you accept the updated policy.
